Hello! Welcome to my site. My name is Matt, and I’m a 25 year old with a passion for Traveling and capturing my trips on 35mm film.

Backstory

I grew up in a military family, moving around quite a bit as a kid. As a result, I had the good fortune of living overseas for many of my formative years. When I was a teenager, we ended up settling down in the small city of San Angelo, Texas.

While San Angelo was a fairly peaceful place to grow up, it was very insulated from the outside world. This was true geographically, but showed up more culturally. So, throughout high school I had this ever-building travel bug that I let loose pretty much as soon as I could.

I started off traveling the US in the front seat of my car, taking advantage of the endless miles of highways and interstates. In 2019, I made my first trip to Europe on my own, visiting Prague, Salzburg, and Munich. When COVID hit, I was stuck in San Angelo again for a bit. But, I eventually got back in the car and used the time to visit more remote parts of the US. Since university I have used a good chunk of my time off and paychecks to visit new places every year.

Somewhere along the way, my friends introduced me to film photography. I was a bit confused at first why they switched from digital to what seemed like a more arduous mode of photography, but then I saw the results. I loved the way the film captured everything, with the grain and the colors giving the pictures a retro feel. Only having a limited number of shots really forces you to be intentional with the photos you take. The cherry on top is that you can often get your negatives back, giving you something physical to keep your memories in.

So, a few years ago I picked up a camera and started snapping. I started off with a classic point-and-shoot before I started to learn about exposure. Now I shoot with a Canon Rebel EOS II that my mom gave me. It was the camera she had when we were traveling during my childhood.

This website is a place to share these photos, and some helpful things I have learned during my travels. Hopefully, you’ll find that some of these photos speak to you and consider adding them to one of your walls. If not, I hope you’ll at least find some information that inspires you or helps you plan your next trip.

I would love for this blog to be interactive and I hope you will help me make it that way. Please subscribe below to get new posts straight to your inbox!
